Interviews: Floatin with Stacy Epps
It’s been a while since Atlanta based Stacy Epps visited us in the UK but when she does, you know we had to drop by and catch up with her. I mean how often do get a chance to eat sushi and chill with a star in the making and get some legal advice whilst we’re at it? I've got to give it up to Stacy Epps for most being one of the most musically blessed female acts at the moment.
We’re hard pushed to find an artist that MCs and sings and do both well, with her smooth vocals and cohesive and edgy flow.
If you didn’t know, Stacy Epps is the future. Her album ‘The Awakening’ has the ability to do just that. Its refreshing blend of ‘neo soul’ and hip hop is what could potentially make this album a classic. ‘Floatin’ is probably one of the most popular tracks off the piece but not the best by far, the whole album oozes joint
after joint.
You’ve gotta love Stacy and her hippy-like persona, well we do anyway. It’s easy to forget that she was once one half of the duo ‘Sol Uprising’ now that she’s making her own mark on the scene as a solo artist. Not only has she collaborated with artists such as MF Doom, Madlib, J Rawls, Oh No and many others; she plans to hit the world by storm with some other hot new artists.
